Halloween in Greenwich Village
Sponsored by Leica Camera and the International Center of Photography
Street and night photography workshop
This workshop is about street photography, night photography, and more. Renowned for its festive and carnival atmosphere, the Village at
night is any photographer's paradise for investigating the spontaneity and rhythm of the street.
Steve will teach five techniques for street subjects. From standing in a doorway with a long lens to engaging your subject in conversation and
obtaining permission to photograph. You will be shown how to approach your subject, and practice during the day, before going out
at night. You will learn how to get the best exposure for night photography, how to handhold without flash, and how to use flash to
capture movement in time and space.
This workshop is meant to be a fun learning experience for all levels -- beginning or advanced, amateur or professional.
Monday, October 30, there will be an optional day. Those students who can attend will visit the home or studio of two NYC photographers to view their work and discuss their life in photography.
Read Steve's article, The Witching Hour, about Halloween street photography.
