"The workshop was a fantastic experience. Seeing those majestic horses against the backdrop of the stark,
rugged landscape was awesome!"
-- Sharon Mode, Menifee, California

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid rustled cattle through this area. Tom Horn, the enforcer for the
powerful cattle barons, followed them over the Outlaw Trail around Juniper Hot Springs in Colorado. You
will be riding through some of the same rugged mountain country. The landscape is different each
day and spectacular in its natural beauty.

Wild Horse Weekend
Travel and nature photography workshop
|
An exceptional opportunity to photograph wild horses and other wildlife in their natural free roaming environment — over 200 square miles of badlands and high desert
The workshop takes place in June because this is the perfect time to capture the young foals. They have reached an age where they are frisky and
playful with each other, and the mares are no longer overly protective.
Steve will share his techniques for photographing wild horses, including lens and camera selection, film or digital. But most of all, this workshop is
about replenishing the spirit and finding your balance. Leave your stressful life behind and explore a place far from the tourist rush and off the beaten path.
We will begin Saturday at first light and follow the wild horses through their BLM preserve in southern Wyoming, returning in the early afternoon. On Sunday,
we will begin before dawn and follow the horses until late afternoon.
We will use 4x4 vehicles driven by Steve and professional wrangler and outfitter, Jim Beall. Jim is the only outfitter permitted by the BLM to offer
wild horse tours in this area. You can count on Jim’s professional attitude, intimate knowledge of the area, and the species of wildlife throughout the
tour. Each photographer will have a window seat.
The workshop includes breakfast and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Lunch will be taken together in the town of Baggs, Wyoming, but is not included
in the fee. Upon registration students will receive a list of possible accommodations in the town of Craig, Colorado.
Note: A KonicaMinolta Maxxum 7D digital camera and a Maxxum 7 film camera, along with telephoto lenses, are available for loan on a first come basis.
